~~~Gratitude~~~ Well Weathered Weather
blinding wild snow
blows, whirls & drifts about me...
in this world alone
Chora
This was what my world looked like before I went to sleep.  Quite beautiful if you ask me.  I am very grateful we never lost power.  It was nice to have a day home with my DH.  We tend to work a lot but this storm made us "lazy" and we took advantage of the time to putter and just hang out together.
I did manage to get in a bit of weaving.  I am trying to use up yarn that I have by weaving scarves.  This one I am using some handspun for the weft that I am not particularly fond of.  I got the roving at a spin-in as part of a Yankee Swap.  I gotta say though it doesn't look half bad woven into this multi colored warp...what do you think?
In other weaving news:::> I am grateful to say I sold my Baby Wolf Loom this week right before the storm.  It leaves a nice blank spot in the house and my life.  I just have too many things on my plate.  I will always weave but, hopefully, now I will have more time to play with my little looms...& finish to some very, very, old UFOs (unfinished objects)!
You can find some of my Handwoven Items that are FINISHED here....
So Grateful for:::
It is my intention, each week, to share something that fills me with Gratitude.
I hope you will join me and share your moments of Gratitude.
---Shop News--- Buy a Haiku ~ Get TWO!
Makers can be a little obsessive.  That is how so much gets done!  But, sometimes, maybe, a maker goes off the charts a bit.  I sort of over estimated how "popular" Haiku would be on Etsy.  Personally, I adore Haiku.  As far as I am concerned, it is the quintessential form of poetry.   I love the rhythm of the 5 - 7 - 5 syllables.  I will clap them when I am creating a Haiku.  The structure is like weaving but the subtle meaning is like the heather of handspun hand dyed wool.  Well, anyways, that is what inspired me to make so many!
I have been running a buy one get on free until they expire or are sold out.  I have 12 left in my shop right now.  If you want to get some before they are gone I will GIVE you 2 extra Weavette Haikus when you buy ONE for only $8.00!  Just mention BLOG in the note to the seller at checkout.  You will get 3 Weavette Haikus for the Price of ONE!  Each will be different.
These sweet little hangings are handwoven on a weavette loom with my handspun yarn. A traditional Japanese Haiku is digitally printed on to vintage cotton and sewn to the woven piece with a 1957 vintage sewing machine.
~~Gratitude~~~ I'm Back!
Happy Groundhog Day, Candlemas, Imbolc, St Bridget's Day, Snowdrop Festival, and I guess I'll wish you a happy super bowl....though I am not really much of a sports fan.....BUT PLENTY to Celebrate today...something for everyone!  Well, except maybe Vern, he is disappointed, he looked out the window and winter is still here.  I am happy it is still winter!!  Luckily Punxsutawney Phil saw  his shadow....6 more weeks of winter...yeah!  My 2 week sabbatical was not as fruitful as I had hoped.  I just NEVER get as much done as I plan.  I accept this about my Self.  And I have sneaking suspicion that the long lists I create for more Self allow me to get A LOT done anyways.  So here is a slice of my supposed ART 2 weeks (couldn't really get the ART thing going so, I just relaxed into what I was moved to do)
Started a project of moving my photos out of albums and into photo boxes.  Quite a trip down memory lane!  I try to get atleast one major reorganization task done each winter.  I know not ART but....well...it feels good to be doing this!
Placed my seed order.  FEDCO is my local seed cooperative (they sell worldwide) Great company!  This years catalog features the ART of my friend Ms Dunn's fifth grade class!  This catalog is fun to read, it is full of surprises including, no glossy pages.
I did a lot of weaving.  Weaving is a mind clearing activity.  Just enough attention to the task that I cannot think about anything else except the next throw of the shuttle.  Ahhhh.
I managed to finish the warp on the little Krya loom.  Next will be blue scarves....
Finally a wee bit of ART.  I am working on a series of what I call Peace Flags for www.injoyemporium.etsy.com shop.  Also, a simple Robert Lax poetry cloth piece....to be continued~~
So, finally, what I am grateful for?  I am grateful that I will never be bored, that I will always have plenty to do, and I am gentle with my Self about what I do and do NOT get done!
It is my intention, each Sunday, to share something that fills me with Gratitude.
I hope you will join me and share your gratitude moments.
Den of Distractions
 Hi~I am here ~ Now! (probably still am...)  This is where it "all" happens.  My little biosphere of blogging.  My Etsy listing nest.  My den of distractions.  I spend more time in front of a screen than I would like to admit. But, living with a teen that has to have at least 2 screens during all waking hours in front of his face gives me the illusion of balance.  My  distractions are not all screen related though.  You can see the big wall of books..they are not just for show..these are pretty comfortable chairs...so I do lose my self at times...
(should be on the computer working but reading instead...not a problem for the younger generation)
There is this nice window for mindless gazing.  If it is night and there is a snow storm with the outside lights on~~~total snow globe effect~~~all my work goes out the window!! (pun intended)
Then there is my little loom.  Oh, how I love this machine.  It is my first loom and we have been together for around 30 years!  Her name is Kyra and she is made out of cherry wood.  She has been to many classrooms letting kids have a crack at cloth making.  I weave mostly scarves on her.  This is weaving meditation.  When I  have been sitting too long and my neck is stiff I stand and weave.  The weaving is simple so I only need to be aware of my selvedge edges.  Just enough awareness that I can not think of any thing else. Just...shuttle in the shed, switch, & beat....over and over and over.  So what next...list my 3 finished scarves on Etsy or weave a little first...gaze a bit...hmm a poem might be nice right about now...put my feet up and read idioms from The Dictionary of Idioms???
Life IS Good!
Busy!
 I have been quiet when it comes to the blog-a-sphere. Wish I could say the same about my life~  BUSY! week.  Un-decorating, celebrating my birthday and son's 18th!  A happy flush of Reiki clients, getting little loom warped (warped means threading the loom, not a warp speed operation or me going crazy).  My camera broke---that is a yikes for an Etsian/Blogger!  So new learning curve with the new camera. (full disclosure~last couple of blogs have photos from past winters...)  Oh yeah, winter!  It has been frigid here.  I have been busy keeping both wood stove stoked and keeping an eye on my quackers...don't want duck-sicle...they do pretty well if I  make them stay in and give them hay to snuggle up with.  Today is my first day alone in 2 weeks + at least until 3:20 when the boy (legal adult now!) gets home from school.  Hope to re-group a bit.
I love my family and friends.  I enjoy all my interactions with my Reiki and sewing clients.  But I re-charge best ALONE.  Alone is like ahhhhhhhh, a fresh breath of air, time I wish to savor...but usually I go into screech mode.  I love that too.  Being able to work at my tasks without interruption.  I listen to the music that I love or an audio book...or my favorite...nothing!  So better get to it!  Daylight is burning! (it is pretty dark by 4:30 pm these days)
List for today:
Rambles with Rumi
I started this blog....then I became super busy.  It didn't help that it was superb weather all week.  Things have settled a bit.  So thought I would get a post in on this rainy afternoon before Sandy hits and we possibly lose power.  One of the things that kept me away from the computer was a nice special order that is now on its way to a shop in San Diego!!!!
It was an order for 3 dozen of my Love Notes that I sell on Etsy.  Well it ended up being 5 dozen.  This is because I have 30 quotes to a page...the order needed 36...I could have printed another page...but started looking at Rumi quotes...so made another page of 30...so needed to weave 2 dozen more for my shop....one of the quotes is..."Let us Fall in love again and scatter gold dust all over the world" Rumi...so this quote inspired me to spin up some new yarn with gold lame' plied into it....my creative process is like a run on sentence at times.  If you want to see more of my quote obsession check out this link....Rumi for the are holidays coming soon!
But this is not enough of an excuse for neglecting this blog.  The weather was amazing this week.  It was that Indian Summer that makes you wish you hadn't put the hammock away for the winter.  The air had just a hint of chill and with a scent of spice.  I just had to take time to wander in the woods.  Here are some images from the week......
