---Shop News--- Poem in Your Pocket Day!

Next Week is Poem in Your Pocket Day April 24th!  Check out the link for fun ways to celebrate!  It is a great way to introduce kids to poetry!  If you have been following my blog you know, by now, that I adore poetry.  I have since I was a young girl.  There is something about so much being said with fewer words that has always attracted me to poems.

I have come to find out that I just might, maybe, be in some sort of minority when it comes to poetry love.  My DH & son considered my reading poetry aloud to them as a sort of punishment...which I admit to using at times when I thought there was some very minor & silly infraction.  Well, I can be become obsessed with an idea.  Like I did with my little Handspun Handwoven Haiku Weavette Ornaments at the InJoyEmporium Etsy Shop.  I sort of made a ton of them. I have new ideas brewing for the Emporium Shop so letting go for a song <---which are mostly poems with music added!

So in the spirit of sharing poetry for EACH $8.00 Haiku Ornament you purchase you will receive a FREE Haiku Ornament!  The perfect gift for Poem in Your Pocket Day!

Here are just a FEW examples of my Japanese Haiku Creations

~~~Gratitude~~~
Ahhh, finally a little respite from the frigid, Arctic, colder than Mars temperatures!  Even my duck came out and took on a little sunshine in the balmy 20 degree temps.  I have to admit I am amazed they survived the cold we just experienced.  My duckies will be 5 this spring...that is fairly old for quackers.  They aren't laying right now...but who can blame them...they would probably be eggiclces before I gathered them anyways.
Today Dad & Boy went out for a movie and some guy time.  I used my time alone to undecorate the house from the holidays. I did some cleaning and purging too.  Out with the Old in with the nothing (I hope)  I had planned to do some sewing while they were away but all my cleaning took longer than I expected.  I did manage to get in a walk in before the I lost the light!
Tree Stand Drying ~ Loom Ready ~ Now all I need is time.....to weave...
My well worn snowshoe trail ~ I did get outside each day despite the cold!
Warmer today, but not a complete thaw.
Runa Enjoying Her Romp in the deep snow!
First day in a long time that I didn't have to be completely muffled to go outside. Even had my coat unzipped!!  The woodstoves are cleaned, the holidays are over, ready for some hibernating and creating now.  Grateful that I am still in love with winter...I may be tested this year...it has already been a bit of a dosey!
It is my intention, each Sunday, to share something that fills me with Gratitude.
I write ~~~Gratitude~~~ with the wavy lines to represent the gratitude ENERGY~~~~~!
I hope you will join me and share your gratitude moments.
~~~Amen, Blessed Be, Namaste'~~~

---Shop News---Plaid Friday & Small Business Saturday

Today is Plaid Friday!

 "The name Plaid Friday was conceived from the idea of weaving the individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. Plaid Friday is the relaxing and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday,” and is designed promote both local and independently owned businesses during the holidays"

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Plaid-Friday-Shop-Local-and-Independent/147245538642349

You won't find me at the mall of the big box store today!  I pledge to make all my holiday purchases from small businesses ONLY!  It is so easy too!  You can shop online and support small as well as local businesses.  If you want to get out of the house, head to your local small town or the local Main Street and have an enjoyable experience with plenty of savings and holiday atmosphere.

Here is a "breaking" the rules Etsy Treasury (one is not supposed to do a treasury with anything from your own shop or more than one shop...it is all about spreading the love on Etsy!)  But I say break the rules TODAY and skip Black Friday and shop small...and plaid!  So plaid stuff from all my shops!(mostly...plaid)

---Shop News---

http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MzM1ODA4MTN8MjcyNDc4Mjg3OA/maine-gardens?ref=pr_treasury

 Well, my life has been mostly in my gardens these days.  So when I managed to get on my computer yesterday I made a treasury celebrating the garden!  All  items come from members of the Maine Team on Etsy ~ handmade in my wonderful home state of MAINE!

I do have my new stand-up computer station ready to rock-n-roll and it is doing my wrists wonders!  But I forgot to anticipate how tired I get after gardening all day...it is hard to list items while I am asleep on my feet.  So not working as late as I once was...which is a good thing...more needed sleep.  The stand up computer desk has not only been good for my body but my mind as well.  I am spending less time goofing around on the computer (I do have an iPad...so some goofing going on with it...but less overall)  I always want to get more done in a day than I do but, I am at peace with how thing end up flowing.

I am very happy in the gardens this year which maybe the results of last summers sabbatical.  I am enjoying the quiet and solitude I experience here.  I feel very in balance this year with the growing and goings.  Even the Japanese Beetles are not getting me down.  Enjoying the little pleasures of small garden wonders.  It is good to be alive with the growth of summer not to mention yummy too!

cute little cuke
"pond view garden" tomatoes trying to ripen

what I call the "big" garden
"south garden" full of garlic and potatoes! (duckingham palace & asparagus)

Before you know the winter winds will be blowing and there will be time for renewed focus on creating arts and crafts.  In the meantime I am going to relish this summer time to it's fullest.

I do get some sit down time when beans need to be snapped!
Life is Good ~~~ Wishing the same for you! <3

Rambles with Rumi

I started this blog....then I became super busy.  It didn't help that it was superb weather all week.  Things have settled a bit.  So thought I would get a post in on this rainy afternoon before Sandy hits and we possibly lose power.  One of the things that kept me away from the computer was a nice special order that is now on its way to a shop in San Diego!!!!
It was an order for 3 dozen of my Love Notes that I sell on Etsy.  Well it ended up being 5 dozen.  This is because I have 30 quotes to a page...the order needed 36...I could have printed another page...but started looking at Rumi quotes...so made another page of 30...so needed to weave 2 dozen more for my shop....one of the quotes is..."Let us Fall in love again and scatter gold dust all over the world" Rumi...so this quote inspired me to spin up some new yarn with gold lame' plied into it....my creative process is like a run on sentence at times.  If you want to see more of my quote obsession check out this link....Rumi for the are holidays coming soon!

But this is not enough of an excuse for neglecting this blog.  The weather was amazing this week.  It was that Indian Summer that makes you wish you hadn't put the hammock away for the winter.  The air had just a hint of chill and with a scent of spice.  I just had to take time to wander in the woods.  Here are some images from the week......
"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do" Rumi

"What you seek is seeking you"  Rumi

"In your light I learn how to Love.  In your Beauty, how to make Poems"  Rumi
