Winter weary is how I feel. Sunday we received another 8 inches of the white stuff. I didn't even go outside that day. My DH was home and did the outside chores. I couldn't muster up the enthusiasm to strap on my snowshoes. But, Monday the sun was shining (at least) it is was cold...in the 20's. Runa needed a walk so I went. DH got to plow again so it was the least I could do. Once I got going it was quite wonderful. The new snow was soft and fluffy making for quiet walking. The sun shining through the trees was just lovely. A Raven friend cawed out to me and we went back and forth in Raven language for awhile. Drives Runa crazy! Makes me happy! I have been leaving Raven treats on the stump near last years nest. I think Raven is happy to have a bit of extra help this year. It can't be easy for the wild ones either.

When I got back to the house I was greeted by more caw-cawing! I looked to the south and there was friend Raven! We went back and forth, me mimicking until my DH came along with a question and Raven being ignored flew away! What a treat to spend time conversing with a Raven!
Can you see the Raven? |

Today is grey with the promise of more snow....sigh.... But, after yesterday I took my snowshoe, if no other reason than, to replenish the Raven stump. Once I get going it is rather nice. I know I am better off the whole day after this bit of exercise and fresh air. I am Grateful I am healthy, live near Ravens, have a warm house with still enough firewood to heat it, the sun is a bit higher in the sky, a good dog, a great husband, a happy life!

I know people aren't happy to see snow in March, but it still is beautiful - especially with a clear blue sky. It looks like you have a beautiful piece of property.
ReplyDeleteThis extra long winter is requiring folks around here to "dig" a bit deeper... & I am not just talking about the snow! Below freezing today....& still .... Surrounded by beauty! I appreciate the reminder <3
